Absolute Water Technologies designs and services water systems for pharmaceutical manufacturing. We handle water for injection, USP purified water, non-compendial water, and process water.
We build around your specifications, your feed water report, and the equipment you already have installed.

Years in process water
WFI has to hold conductivity, TOC, and bacterial endotoxin limits under the USP monograph. The monograph has permitted production methods other than distillation since 2019. Membrane-based WFI built on double-pass reverse osmosis and EDI is now common in new plants. We size and specify both approaches.
Loop design carries as much weight as the generation skid. Before equipment gets quoted we look at velocity, dead legs, slope and drainability, tank vent filtration, and the sanitization method.
Purified water is held to the conductivity limits in USP <645> and the TOC limit in USP <643>. A common train runs multimedia filtration and activated carbon through softening, reverse osmosis, and electrodeionization, then into a storage tank and a recirculating distribution loop with UV and a defined sanitization method.
Your feed water analysis and peak demand set the configuration. Municipal supplies change through the year. A system sized off one water report from three years ago will give you problems.
Much of the water in a pharmaceutical plant is not held to a USP monograph. Equipment washing, clean-in-place, cooling, boiler feed, and utility loops still carry specs your process depends on. We treat to the spec you have to hold and size the equipment to the application.
Rick Kaestner, our president, chairs the DQ/IQ/OQ subcommittee for AAMI TIR119 and was an inaugural member of the ANSI/AAMI ST108 committee. Qualification documentation gets built as the project runs.
If a system was installed without a turnover package, we can rebuild the documentation and requalify it.
We support multiple manufacturers and stock replacement parts, membranes, cartridge filters, media, UV bulbs and sleeves, and control valve rebuild kits.
Any system with warm water and low-flow sections will grow biofilm without a sanitization plan. Hot water, ozone, and chemical are the three routes. Ozone handles ambient loops well and gets destructed with UV ahead of the points of use.
Sanitization runs on a schedule. Samples get pulled afterward to confirm it worked.
Our technicians pull samples onsite and send them for laboratory analysis. Total organic carbon, conductivity, bacterial endotoxin by LAL, total plate count, and organism identification are all available.
Results come back attached to your service report with the limits and the trend included.
Absolute Care is our service program for high-purity systems. Response time is guaranteed 24/7. Our technicians are factory certified on the equipment they service.
Membranes can be cleaned off-site in our facility using single-element housings, with performance testing on 100% of the membranes we clean. The cleaning report shows what the clean recovered. Hazardous cleaning chemicals stay off your site.
Every service visit is documented in Absolute Water Reports, our cloud-based reporting portal. Reports get emailed after each visit and stay accessible through the customer portal.

Yes. The USP monograph has allowed production methods other than distillation since 2019, provided the water meets the conductivity, TOC, and bacterial endotoxin requirements. Membrane-based WFI systems typically use double-pass RO or RO with EDI, with hot water or ozone sanitization on the loop.
Both meet the same conductivity and TOC requirements. WFI adds a bacterial endotoxin limit of 0.25 EU/mL. The recommended microbial action level is also much tighter: 10 cfu per 100 mL for WFI against 100 cfu per mL for purified water. That difference drives the design of the generation equipment and the sanitization strategy.
Frequency should be set by your own monitoring data. Ambient loops commonly run monthly to quarterly sanitization. Hot water and ozonated systems sanitize far more often, sometimes continuously. If bioburden counts trend upward between sanitizations, the interval is too long.
Water used in a pharmaceutical facility that isn't held to a USP monograph. Equipment washing, cooling, boiler feed, and clean-in-place water usually fall in this category. The specification comes from your process and your quality group.
Yes. We service equipment from multiple manufacturers and stock parts and consumables for the common platforms.
